Abstract
Example embodimentsrelatetolasersthatincludeloop
resonators. Oneexamplelaserincludesaloopresonator
forming aclosedlooplightpath.Theloopresonatorincludes
an opticalgainmediumconfiguredtolase.Theloopreso-
nator isconfiguredto,duringlasing,presentapairofmodes:
a modeoflightpropagatinginaclockwisedirectioninthe
closed looplightpathoftheloopresonator(termedCW
mode) andamodeoflightpropagatinginacounter-
clockwise directionintheclosedlooplightpathoftheloop
resonator (termedCCWmode).Thelaseralsoincludesa
first lightoutputconfiguredtooutputlaserlightfromthe
laser.Additionally,thelaserincludesanopticalpower
modulating unit.Theopticalpowermodulationunitis
configured tomodulateanopticalpoweroftheCWmodeof
the loopresonatorandanopticalpoweroftheCCWmode
of theloopresonator.
