Hong Deng was born in Hubei, China, in 1992. He received his Bachelor's degree in Optical Information Engineering in 2014 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China, after which he studied in Microwave Photonics Research Laboratory in University of Ottawa and received a Master's degree in 2018. Since May 2018 he joined the Photonics Research Group at INTEC, starting his work on reconfigurable photonic circuits
